The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) supports the implementation of peacebuilding, humanitarian, and development projects globally. This role is within the UNODC Country Office in Brazil, specifically supporting the Maritime Programme (GMCP) under the Border Management Branch. Job Purpose
The Project Management Support Senior Officer will ensure the effective implementation, coordination, and monitoring of project activities for the UNODC Maritime Programme in Brazil. This role is crucial for delivering project results within defined scope, time, cost, and quality parameters. The position provides essential analytical and operational support for project planning, execution, and reporting, actively contributing to risk and performance management. By focusing on client needs and problem-solving, the Senior Officer drives efficient project delivery and helps achieve impactful results aligned with organizational and donor expectations.
Responsibilities
The role involves contributing to detailed project implementation plans, ensuring timely and quality delivery of outputs. Responsibilities include providing logistical and operational support for missions and workshops, preparing materials, and integrating sustainability, social inclusion, and gender equality into project stages. The officer will monitor implementation through field missions, coordinate the preparation and submission of narrative and financial reports, and track project progress against key indicators, identifying deviations and proposing corrective actions. Quality assurance for deliverables and support for audits are also key. Furthermore, the role requires building and maintaining relationships with national and local authorities, donors, and partners, facilitating communication, and supporting the organization of stakeholder meetings. Knowledge sharing and contributing to training sessions on project management are also expected.
Work Experience
Required experience includes project management within law enforcement, maritime security, riverine operations, or tactical training. Proficiency in collaboration and productivity tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite) and web-based management systems is essential. Desirable experience includes working in multicultural environments, UN system organizations, developing countries, international cooperation, or technical assistance, as well as high-value procurement of tactical/technological law enforcement equipment.
