Job Purpose
The Project Management Support Officer (PSO) provides essential administrative, logistical, and financial support to projects, ensuring high quality, accuracy, and consistency in all work. This role promotes a monitoring-oriented approach that aligns with UNOPS standards and regulations. The PSO directly influences project outcomes by contributing to effective project management strategies, risk reduction, cost control, and quality improvement, thereby enhancing the overall success and impact of UNOPS initiatives.
Responsibilities
The Project Management Support Officer is responsible for supporting project implementation by assisting Project Managers with documentation, work plans, and stakeholder liaison, particularly with Procurement. This includes managing purchase orders, contracts, and payment requests, as well as tracking project status, identifying and managing risks and issues, and maintaining project files and reports. Financial management duties involve supporting budget preparation, monitoring expenditures, forecasting funds, and preparing financial reports in coordination with regional finance offices. The role also ensures compliance with UNOPS financial procedures and accurate cost recovery. Additionally, the PSO supports project monitoring, reporting, and knowledge management by assisting in the formulation phase, tracking progress, managing information flow, and contributing to lessons learned and best practice dissemination.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in financial information management and/or project support services for infrastructure projects is required. Desired experience includes knowledge of UNOPS regulations in HR, procurement, finance, and administration, as well as experience within the UN system and in generating complex reports.
