The UNOPS Global Portfolios Office (GPO), based in Geneva, supports sustainable development, climate action, and peacebuilding globally. Job Purpose
The Programme Assistant's primary purpose is to provide crucial support to Senior Programme Managers in the conceptualization, development, and implementation of new AT programmes, particularly those involving Chinese stakeholders. This role is instrumental in strengthening relationships with these key partners and ensuring the smooth execution and monitoring of ongoing initiatives. The position also involves conducting research and analysis, preparing programmatic and administrative documents, and handling communications and documentation in both English and Mandarin, thereby facilitating effective collaboration and program delivery.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include providing comprehensive translation, interpretation, writing, editing, and review support for programme documents between English and Mandarin. The role involves assisting Senior Programme Managers with research, analysis, and drafting documents on topics related to China, ATscale programmes, and assistive technology. This includes supporting communication efforts to identify and engage Chinese stakeholders for programme development and implementation. Additionally, the Programme Assistant will participate in and support the organization of events, meetings, webinars, and workshops, preparing necessary materials in both languages. Responsibilities may evolve as the project progresses, with a critical deliverable being ongoing support for communications and programmatic materials for Chinese stakeholders.
Work Experience
Four years of relevant work experience are required, specifically in supporting the drafting of programme documents in both English and Chinese. Experience in research, analysis, and event management is desirable, as is specific engagement with UN, international partners, or government stakeholders, particularly in China. A university degree may substitute for some years of experience.
