In Bangladesh, UNOPS partners with the government on capacity development and infrastructure projects aligned with SDGs. This role supports these regional and country-specific communication efforts.
Job Purpose
The Communications Assistant is integral to the communications team, primarily supporting the creation and management of diverse content across print, web, and social media platforms. This role is crucial for developing compelling communication materials that strictly adhere to brand guidelines, ensuring consistent and professional messaging. The assistant contributes significantly to enhancing organizational visibility and outreach by actively maintaining digital archives and managing social media accounts. This involves preparing presentations, news releases, and publications, as well as supporting the development of audio-visual content like video tutorials. By ensuring all communications are accurate, current, and engaging, the assistant helps to strengthen UNOPS's public image and effectively disseminate information about its sustainable development initiatives to a broad audience. This role directly supports strategic communication objectives, maximizing the organization's impact and fostering a common brand identity across all channels.
Responsibilities
The Communications Assistant is primarily responsible for comprehensive content and materials development. This includes providing routine assistance in creating diverse communication materials across audio-visual, web, and print formats, while strictly ensuring adherence to UNOPS/project branding guidelines. Key duties involve preparing presentations, news releases, and publications for meetings and workshops, alongside supporting event logistics, minute-taking, and compiling detailed reports and briefings. The role actively contributes to establishing and maintaining a consistent brand identity across all communication channels and assists in drafting concise, well-designed articles and various communication pieces, including video tutorials and other audio-visual content aligned with strategic communication objectives. Additionally, the assistant manages content and information effectively by developing and overseeing communication materials, campaigns, publications, and events to significantly strengthen organizational visibility. This encompasses maintaining robust communication archives and databases, as well as diligently managing the office’s social media accounts by posting approved content. The role also involves organizing and curating the office’s photo archive, selecting suitable images for written content, and supporting regular website updates to ensure all information remains accurate and current. Finally, the assistant actively participates in knowledge building and sharing through relevant training and capacity-building initiatives, contributing to knowledge networks and Communities of Practice.
Work Experience
Four years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, media, or journalism is required. Desirable experience includes working in multicultural or UN environments, development/humanitarian contexts, content development for grassroots audiences, and proficiency in graphic design, video production, and content creation tools.
