Job Purpose
The Programme Management Intern (Youth Engagement) will support the United Nations Youth Office's engagement and advocacy efforts. Working under UNOPS supervision and in close collaboration with UN Youth Office teams, the intern will provide crucial support across various youth engagement portfolios. This includes assisting with flagship events, intergovernmental processes, the implementation of the UN Youth Compass, and contributing to advocacy, policy development, and communication strategies to advance youth issues within the UN system.
Responsibilities
The intern will support flagship events and intergovernmental processes by assisting with logistical and substantive preparations for key youth-related UN moments, developing background materials, conducting research, and preparing event documentation. They will also support the implementation of the UN Youth Compass by conducting research and contributing to the organization of online knowledge resources. Furthermore, the role involves providing advocacy and policy support through research and tracking relevant processes, and communications support by developing communication products, assisting with outreach, and monitoring digital trends to amplify youth voices and UN priorities.
Work Experience
While no prior work experience is required, introductory experience in project research, coordination, management, support, or administration is desired. Familiarity with the UN's work and computer literacy with Microsoft Office or Google Suite are considered assets.
