Partnerships & Resource Mobilization Intern
Organizational Context
The UNOPS Global Portfolios Office (GPO) in Geneva supports sustainable development, climate action, and peacebuilding initiatives worldwide. It manages global programmes and provides operational support to various UN agencies and partnerships. UN-Water, an inter-agency coordination mechanism for freshwater issues, operates under GPO, promoting coherence and supporting the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support UN-Water's critical functions in resource mobilization, partnership development, and the implementation of its system-wide strategy. The intern will contribute by conducting research, analyzing trends in water financing, and developing essential documentation such as briefing notes and proposals. This role is instrumental in enhancing UN-Water's capacity to coordinate efforts, secure funding, and strengthen collaborations with diverse stakeholders to advance global water and sanitation goals and support the 2030 Agenda.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide crucial support to the Resource Mobilization & Partnerships Officer. Key duties include updating and enhancing the UN-Water Resource Mobilization Guide by integrating current financing trends and improving its usability. The role involves conducting in-depth research on water financing, donor priorities, and private sector engagement, producing analytical summaries of findings. Additionally, the intern will draft donor briefs, concept notes, and proposals, and assist in preparing high-level materials. Support will also be provided for the implementation of the UN System-wide Strategy and its Collaborative Implementation Plan, including tracking priority actions. General support encompasses partner mapping, presentation preparation, and meeting assistance.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required. However, prior experience in policy-related issues, research and report writing, coordination, and collaboration is advantageous. Excellent interpersonal and partnership management skills are also beneficial. Experience in fields related to water and sanitation, such as climate or finance, or working with the UN system, is considered an asset.
