Job Purpose
The Urban Programme and Partnerships Officer, under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager, is responsible for supporting the effective design, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and development of UN-Habitat Jordan's portfolio. This role is crucial for advancing sustainable urban development, climate resilience, governance, and inclusive urbanization priorities in Jordan. Key contributions include providing technical support, coordinating programmes, mobilizing resources, engaging stakeholders, managing knowledge, and strengthening institutional capacity. The Officer will also foster strategic partnerships, ensure timely delivery of outputs, produce quality reports, and represent UN-Habitat in relevant coordination forums and technical platforms.
Responsibilities
The Urban Programme and Partnerships Officer will provide technical support for the effective and timely implementation of UN-Habitat programmes in Jordan. This includes identifying collaboration opportunities with national and international partners to advance sustainable urban development. The role involves supporting resource mobilization efforts by drafting concept notes and project proposals, and engaging with potential donors. The Officer will facilitate coordination among implementing partners and stakeholders, ensuring alignment of activities and results. They will provide technical input for urban policies, strategies, and action plans related to sustainable urbanization and climate resilience. Additionally, the role involves supporting the development of monitoring systems, preparing work plans, representing UN-Habitat in relevant forums, and identifying best practices and lessons learned. The Officer will also participate in UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework groups to identify synergies and joint programming opportunities.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant working experience in urban development, human settlements, data analysis, project or programme management is required. Experience in team management, resource mobilization, donor coordination, and working within the United Nations system is desirable.
