Information Management and Analytics Analyst
Organizational Context
The Asia Pacific Regional Office oversees UNOPS operations across 17 countries, focusing on strategic leadership and operational excellence. Within Afghanistan, UNOPS has a long-standing presence, currently prioritizing life-saving initiatives and basic human needs. This role is situated within the Afghanistan Country Office (AFCO), specifically supporting the Afghanistan's Community Resilience and Livelihood Project (ACRLP) under the Programme Implementation Unit.
Job Purpose
The Information Management and Analytics Analyst is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and operational use of the Management Information System (MIS) and related data systems for the ACRLP project. This role is critical for ensuring the quality and accessibility of project data, facilitating timely reporting, and strengthening transparency and financial oversight. By managing data quality, integrating with external systems, and providing operational support and training to partners, the incumbent directly contributes to the effectiveness and accountability of humanitarian and development efforts in Afghanistan.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include the design, development, and maintenance of MIS databases, spreadsheets, and data management processes, ensuring data quality through systematic cleaning, validation, and verification. The role involves integrating the ACRLP MIS with external systems, supporting data extraction, reporting, and analysis using SQL queries, and developing dashboards. Operational support includes troubleshooting, user guidance for Facilitating Partners (FPs), and ensuring smooth MIS operations. The analyst will coordinate and supervise MIS support staff, provide technical guidance on GIS, and support capacity-building activities. Additionally, the role involves assisting the Finance team with MIS-based reporting and producing reports, visualizations, and maps to support decision-making.
Work Experience
A minimum of 11 years of relevant experience in information management or database administration is required with a secondary school diploma. With a Bachelor's degree, 7 years of relevant experience is desired. Experience with web design, database programming/administration, UN systems, and working in Afghanistan or on community-based/humanitarian projects is also beneficial.
