Job Purpose
The HR Associate provides essential support for transparent and efficient Human Resources and Travel Management services within UNMAS Syria. This role is critical for ensuring compliance with UN and UNOPS regulations, facilitating recruitment processes, managing personnel records, and coordinating travel arrangements. By offering expert advice and support to personnel and management, the associate contributes to the smooth operation of the office and supports the broader humanitarian mine action efforts in Syria, ensuring that staff have the necessary support to carry out their vital work in a challenging environment.
Responsibilities
The HR Associate manages comprehensive HR functions, including full compliance with UN/UNOPS rules, processing payroll and non-payroll activities, and managing personnel records such as identity cards and leave. They coordinate the recruitment of consultants, draft terms of reference, and ensure diverse candidate outreach. The role involves advising personnel on service conditions, providing induction training, and maintaining HR databases. Additionally, the associate handles all aspects of travel management, validating flight options, preparing travel authorizations, processing bookings, and assisting with visa requirements. Protocol duties include liaising with government ministries on visa and permit processing, facilitating customs clearance, and managing VAT exemptions, ensuring smooth operations for personnel and shipments.
Work Experience
Requires relevant experience in administration, human resources, or travel management. Experience within the UN or an international NGO is considered desirable.
