Job Purpose
The Project Management Support Associate provides essential support for the planning, coordination, and execution of project activities within the UNMAS Colombia programme. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient operations and timely delivery of project objectives by collaborating closely with project stakeholders. The associate will facilitate operations, maintain effective coordination, and ensure all activities align with the project's results framework and UNOPS' internal processes. This position contributes directly to strengthening Colombia's Humanitarian Mine Action sector, enabling communities to live free from the threat of explosive devices and supporting the country's peace and development initiatives.
Responsibilities
The Project Management Support Associate will contribute to planning and preparation by assisting senior managers with stakeholder engagement, training needs assessments, and capacity-building program development. This includes supporting budget preparation, procurement, risk identification, and drafting project agreements. For project implementation, the associate will aid in updating National Mine Action Standards, supporting technical training in HMA (including EORE, demining, and victim assistance), and coordinating logistics for events. They will also manage project assets within budget, liaise with service providers, and facilitate communications. In monitoring, reporting, and compliance, the role involves developing monitoring tools, collecting and archiving documentation, contributing to reports, tracking milestones, and ensuring adherence to UNOPS policies. Operational and logistical support includes coordinating procurement, travel, and inventory, assisting with HR requirements, managing project files, and supporting interagency missions. The associate will also contribute to knowledge building by supporting training sessions and participating in knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Work Experience
Required experience includes work in project management or related areas, and demonstrable proficiency with collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite) and web-based management systems. Desirable experience includes working in multicultural environments, UN system organizations, developing countries, humanitarian or development contexts, liaising with national authorities, mine action, and applying inclusive approaches in project coordination.
