Organizational Context

The North Africa Multi-Country Office (NAMCO) in Tunis manages operations in Algeria, Egypt, Libya, and Morocco, supporting socio-economic development through projects in health, justice, climate action, and environmental preservation. This role is situated within NAMCO, contributing to vocational training and educational initiatives.
Job Purpose
The Technical Expert - Mechatronics, Automation & CNC will provide specialized technical expertise to vocational training and educational projects in Egypt and Morocco. This role involves independently managing projects within established frameworks, offering authoritative advice on policies and procedures, and adapting existing models to meet project-specific needs. The primary goal is to ensure the effective integration of modern industrial technologies, such as mechatronics, automation, and CNC, into vocational training programs, thereby enhancing the quality and relevance of technical education and preparing the local workforce for industry demands.
Responsibilities
The Technical Expert will manage projects focused on implementing mechatronics, automation, and CNC technologies in vocational training centers, providing expert advice on technical education and industrial automation policies. This includes adapting approaches to local needs, supervising support staff, and resolving complex technical issues. Responsibilities also encompass developing and adapting training curricula, conducting training sessions for instructors and students, and offering technical guidance for lab upgrades. Furthermore, the role involves building and maintaining relationships with industry partners, educational institutions, and government agencies to foster collaboration and ensure training programs align with labor market demands. Organizing workshops and representing UNOPS in technical forums are also key duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of experience in mechatronics, automation, and CNC technologies is required, encompassing project management, curriculum development, and technical training. Experience in vocational training and technical education programs, as well as in the Middle East and North Africa region, is also essential. Experience with international development projects or UN agencies is desirable.
