Job Purpose
The Finance Senior Analyst provides essential support to HQ finance functions, with a focus on grants advances and liquidation, inventory monitoring, and comprehensive financial oversight. This role is critical for maintaining financial integrity and ensuring compliance within UNOPS. By supporting IPSAS specialists, the analyst contributes to accurate financial reporting and adherence to organizational financial regulations, playing a key part in the overall financial health and accountability of the organization.
Responsibilities
The role involves extensive financial oversight and monitoring, including reviewing reconciliation submissions, account balances, and General Ledger data for accuracy and compliance with UNOPS Financial Rules and Regulations. It supports quarterly and year-end financial closure processes, monitors provisions for bad debts, and manages lease and inventory accounting. The analyst will also contribute to developing a strong control environment, maintaining an issue log, and processing transactions in the UNOPS ERP system. Additionally, the position supports audit readiness initiatives by validating financial information for accuracy and completeness. The role also focuses on capacity building and system improvements, refining financial processes, supporting system implementations like OneUNOPS, and contributing to training materials and sessions on IPSAS standards and financial regulations. Furthermore, it involves policy implementation and compliance, conducting research for IPSAS-compliant guidance and analyzing the impact of new accounting standards. Finally, the analyst provides support for technical accounting matters and corporate financial statements, gathering and analyzing data to assist IPSAS specialists and supporting audit processes.
Work Experience
Required experience includes finance and accounting, with specific knowledge of IPSAS or IFRS accounting standards. Desired experience includes working within a UN organization, familiarity with IPSAS 47 & 48, experience with OneUNOPS, and expertise in grants management and inventory control.
