The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) operates in Latin America and the Caribbean, delivering high-impact solutions for sustainable development. The Southern Cone Multi-Country Office (SCMCO), based in Brazil, supports national priorities across Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, focusing on infrastructure, public health, and institutional strengthening. This role supports the National Fund for Educational Development (FNDE) in Brazil.
Job Purpose
The Project Management Support - Associate will provide crucial support to the National Construction Management Specialist, focusing on financial and infrastructure procurement monitoring. This role is integral to the successful implementation of the UNOPS/24330 Technical Cooperation Agreement, which aims to strengthen education infrastructure management for traditional peoples in Brazil. The associate will contribute to ensuring that projects are managed effectively, risks are identified and mitigated, and financial processes are transparent and efficient, ultimately supporting the completion of unfinished school construction projects and improving educational infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the National Construction Management Specialist, the Associate will participate in technical and control meetings, and contribute to defining methods for information collection for risk management and performance indicators. Responsibilities include supporting project contract and documentary management, maintaining the Information Management System for reporting, and developing technical documents such as Terms of Reference and reports. The role involves supporting the systematization and monitoring of technical-financial and procurement aspects of infrastructure projects, including payment processes and financial reporting. The Associate will also monitor contractual payments, update payment data, and verify products and payment processes for consultants and companies. Additionally, the role requires technical support for construction cost market analysis and may involve site visits to existing buildings and communities.
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of experience (with high school) or two years (with a Bachelor's degree) in technical monitoring of financial processes is required. This includes at least two years in financial management, covering budget management, projections, and related tools. Desirable experience includes project management, implementation (especially for indigenous/quilombola communities), previous work with a UN agency, and experience in public education sector project management.
