Job Purpose
The Grievance Redress Senior Associate is responsible for establishing and implementing a comprehensive grievance redressal mechanism (GRM) for the project. This involves integrating various channels for receiving complaints, ensuring robust data management and reporting, and coordinating training for relevant committees and personnel. The role facilitates effective communication and coordination with stakeholders and management to ensure timely and appropriate resolution of grievances, including sensitive incidents, thereby contributing to project integrity and stakeholder trust in a challenging operational environment.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include managing the establishment and implementation of a practical and efficient GRM, formulating and integrating grievance uptake channels, and institutionalizing protocols for Grievance Redressal Committees (GRCs). The role involves ensuring the maintenance and regular updating of a GRM database, producing reports on grievances and trends for project progress reports, and promptly reporting severe incidents to management and the World Bank. Additionally, the incumbent will coordinate training for field-level committees and higher-level GRM committees, ensuring appropriate composition and handling of sensitive cases like gender-based violence and sexual harassment. Communication and coordination with the Communications Officer for disseminating GRM information and immediate briefing of relevant teams on potential project impacts are also crucial.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of experience in designing and managing grievance redressal mechanisms for development projects is required. Experience working with the World Bank, UN agencies, or other donor agencies is valued.
