Job Purpose

The Communications Senior Officer is responsible for developing and executing strategic communication initiatives. This includes conducting research, drafting high-level reports, and overseeing the creation of quality editorial content such as press materials, videos, and knowledge products. The role ensures message consistency and audience adaptation, while also managing key stakeholder and media relations. The position contributes to proposal development and strategic planning, providing guidance on communication standards and best practices to support UNOPS' mandate and objectives.

Responsibilities

The role involves strategic communication and policy support, including research and drafting of analytical reports for high-level events, and preparing key messages and presentations. It contributes to the implementation and monitoring of strategic plans and facilitates knowledge sharing with partners. The position also entails developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies aligned with corporate priorities, overseeing daily execution, and analyzing communication contexts to recommend adjustments. Furthermore, it leads the development of high-quality editorial content across various media, manages content deliverables, and ensures brand consistency. Stakeholder engagement includes building relationships with key stakeholders and media, supporting event organization, and providing guidance on communication standards. Finally, the role supports training sessions and knowledge exchange initiatives on communication topics.

Work Experience

Required experience includes communications, public relations, media, or journalism. Proficiency with collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite) and web management systems is also necessary. Experience in multicultural settings, UN organizations, developing countries, or humanitarian/development contexts is desirable.
