Job Purpose

The Project Finance Senior Associate supports the Finance Group's vision of being a true business partner to UNOPS projects. This role provides crucial advice and governance for project financial reporting and closure, contributing to a center of excellence that delivers tailored financial tools, guidance, and support. The associate collaborates on project setup, implementation, and closure with UNOPS delivery functions and the Partnerships Group, ensuring seamless and relevant financial management throughout the project lifecycle. This position is key to maintaining financial integrity and supporting operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Manage project financial closure, including timely initiation of activities and verification of Final Financial Reports (FFRs) for accurate project closure, ensuring compliance with UNOPS rules and partner requirements. Oversee project fund management and budget releases, reviewing and approving internal budgets and ensuring compliance with legal agreements and UNOPS financial regulations. Provide oversight of partner financial reporting, identifying and proposing solutions for issues related to project closure and reporting performance. Support client reporting by providing ad hoc, interim, and annual reports, advising on partner-specific financial reports, and processing monthly closure activities. Facilitate knowledge building and sharing by assisting in training colleagues and synthesizing lessons learned and best practices in project finance management.

Work Experience

Requires relevant experience in Finance at a national or international level. Experience working in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in a developing country is desirable. Experience in development or humanitarian contexts is also preferred.
