Job Purpose
The Senior Associate Mechanical Engineer will coordinate, manage, and supervise various technical disciplines including HVAC, medical gases, medical equipment pre-installation, sanitary systems, weak signals, electrical systems, fire protection, telecommunications, electronic security, and building automation (BMS). The role ensures the correct integration of these specialties within hospital infrastructure projects, adhering to technical specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulations. This position is crucial for guaranteeing the quality, efficiency, and proper execution of contracts related to hospital infrastructure development, contributing to improved healthcare facilities.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support in coordinating, supervising, and monitoring infrastructure works. Review technical specifications, identify improvements in designs and methods, and respond to technical queries during tender processes. Participate in evaluation committees for bids related to infrastructure design, execution, or supervision. Monitor and review third-party technical reports for contractual compliance. Support project proposal preparation, including identifying necessary studies and designs, and oversee technical execution according to international standards. Monitor the quality and quantity of executed works, ensuring conformity with plans, specifications, and contracts. Coordinate with other specialties to ensure technical integration and resolve interferences. Support the selection of technical teams by preparing and reviewing Terms of Reference. Oversee project management aspects, including technical, quality, budget, risk, and schedule considerations. Ensure projects incorporate sustainability criteria throughout all stages. Maintain and update all project documentation in compliance with UNOPS guidelines.
Work Experience
1 to 7 years of professional experience as an engineer in areas related to heavy machinery, hydraulic equipment, and/or industrial mechanical systems is required. Experience in the execution or supervision of infrastructure works involving mechanical installations is desirable, particularly in hospital, educational, or institutional infrastructure projects.
