UNOPS Myanmar is a key office, managing large development programs and serving as the Principal Recipient for the Global Fund. It provides essential procurement, infrastructure, and project management services to various partners, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective service delivery.
Job Purpose
The Finance Associate is responsible for providing comprehensive accounting, budget administration, and financial reporting support to ensure the efficient and compliant operation of financial activities within UNOPS Myanmar. This role is crucial for maintaining accuracy and adherence to UNOPS financial rules, regulations, policies, and donor requirements. By managing accounts, preparing financial reports, and overseeing budget and recovery controls, the Finance Associate directly contributes to the effective financial management of development programs and initiatives, facilitating smooth project execution and supporting the organization's mandate in the region.
Responsibilities
The Finance Associate will manage budget administration and cost recovery by supporting budget preparation, monitoring, and revisions, ensuring alignment with UNOPS policies and agreements. They will maintain financial data and analysis for decision-making and support cost-recovery procedures. In accounting, the role involves reviewing ledgers, reconciling accounts, ensuring timely month-end and year-end closures, and responding to financial queries. For financial reporting and analysis, the Associate will contribute to drafting financial documentation, assist in reconciling project expenditures, participate in financial closure activities, and support audits. They will also maintain accurate records for VAT, prepayments, and operational advances, and prepare adjusting entries. Additionally, the role includes supporting knowledge building and sharing initiatives related to finance.
Work Experience
Required experience includes project financial management, budgeting, cash management, and financial reporting. Proficiency in collaboration and productivity tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite) and web-based management systems is essential. Desirable experience includes working in multicultural environments, UN system organizations, developing countries, or in development/humanitarian contexts, as well as experience with financial systems or ERP software.
