Job Purpose
The Driver will ensure safe and reliable transportation for authorized personnel under the supervision of the Territorial Coordinator. This role requires professionalism, courtesy, and discretion, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. The position is crucial for the smooth operation of UNODC's alternative development programs in Nariño, Colombia, facilitating the movement of staff and essential materials to support project activities and community engagement in areas affected by illicit crops.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include providing secure and timely transportation for authorized personnel, and collecting/delivering correspondence and documents. The driver will maintain a daily log of mileage and fuel consumption, and perform routine vehicle checks and minor repairs to ensure optimal functioning. This includes keeping vehicles clean and ensuring all required documents, safety equipment, and communication devices are available and secure. The role also involves responding to accidents according to organizational regulations, and providing administrative support such as assisting with office supply procurement, inventory management, and coordinating minor facility repairs. Additionally, the driver will support logistics for meetings, workshops, and events related to the Alternative Development Program.
Work Experience
Required experience includes safe driving practices and performing minor vehicle repairs. Knowledge of Colombian traffic and transportation regulations, as well as UN System passenger transport norms, is essential. Desired experience includes working in multicultural environments, with UN organizations in developing countries, or in development/humanitarian contexts. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is also valued.
