In Colombia, UNOPS collaborates with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to implement projects focused on alternative development and land formalization. This role supports the Land Formalization Unit within UNODC's alternative development program.
Job Purpose
The Assistant in Cadastral and Geodetic Engineering will support the Land Formalization Unit by ensuring the quality and consistency of geospatial data. This involves reviewing information against established land management standards and contributing to the logistical management of verifying and organizing land boundary determination products. The role is crucial for generating the technical-legal reports required by the project. Additionally, the position will assist in managing spatial data and updating the geodatabase to provide essential technical and operational support for the project's processes, ensuring accurate and reliable spatial information for land regularization initiatives.
Responsibilities
The Assistant in Cadastral and Geodetic Engineering will provide comprehensive support to the Land Formalization Unit. Key responsibilities include managing the logistical, documentary, and administrative aspects of geographic and alphanumeric information. This involves integrating topographic data and organizing required geographic products according to project guidelines and technical criteria. The role requires integrating, organizing, and cleaning geographic information to update geodatabases, ensuring data integrity and consistency. Furthermore, the assistant will consolidate property documentation and support the organization of property files in compliance with current document management procedures. A significant duty involves supporting the determination of the largest property by organizing information on boundary determination and delimitation, documenting project reports using topographic data and information from relevant entities like IGAC and ORIP.
Work Experience
Required experience includes logistical/documentary support for geospatial information, GIS management, geodatabase administration, and data quality. Desired experience includes cadastral processes, knowledge of Colombian land regularization regulations, proficiency in ArcGIS (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and technical determination of property boundaries.
