Organizational Context

UNOPS Myanmar, a leading office in Asia, manages significant development programs and serves as the Principal Recipient for the Global Fund. The 3PI Team focuses on building essential infrastructure, including WASH, shelter, education, and health facilities, in remote areas. They also support emergency response and recovery, addressing gender and protection issues for marginalized populations across Myanmar.

Job Purpose

The Technical Coordinator (Infrastructure) provides crucial technical expertise and quality assurance for infrastructure activities within UNOPS Myanmar's 3PI team. This role supports Project and Programme Managers throughout the entire project lifecycle, ensuring that all infrastructure-related tasks, from planning and design review to implementation and monitoring, adhere to UNOPS standards and project requirements. The position is vital for delivering high-quality, compliant, and effective infrastructure solutions that contribute to sustainable development and humanitarian efforts in Myanmar.

Responsibilities

The Technical Coordinator is responsible for providing comprehensive technical support and quality assurance for infrastructure projects. This includes reviewing designs, specifications, and Bills of Quantities, ensuring compliance with UNOPS standards, and coordinating the application of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Social Management Systems. The role involves coordinating technical services from engineering teams, planning and prioritizing technical resources, and overseeing the work of external consultants. Additionally, the coordinator will engage with stakeholders, contribute to project reporting, represent UNOPS in technical forums, and support capacity building initiatives for internal teams and partners. The position also involves developing and reviewing technical inputs for proposals and new initiatives.

Work Experience

Required: Relevant experience in engineering, design, infrastructure, and works. Desired: Knowledge of UNOPS systems and processes, familiarity with the Myanmar context, experience with structural modeling and calculations, and understanding of sustainable/resilient engineering approaches. Experience in project management and working in conflict-affected areas is advantageous.
