Job Purpose
The Project Support Associate for Criminal Investigations, under the supervision of the ALERT Project Coordinator, provides essential support for the planning, coordination, and implementation of project activities. This role works closely with counterparts to facilitate activity execution, technical coordination, and deliverable tracking, ensuring alignment with the project's results framework and applicable procedures. The associate contributes to the project's objectives by supporting the development of deliverables and training activities, collaborating with project counterparts on criminal investigations related to synthetic drug production in clandestine laboratories.
Responsibilities
The role involves supporting senior technical staff and the Project Coordinator in engaging with project counterparts, identifying needs, and strengthening capacities in criminal investigations related to synthetic drug production. This includes assisting with documentary analysis, diagnostic reports, and evidence-based deliverables concerning evidence management, chain of custody, and investigation files. The associate will also support the design and validation of training materials, methodological tools, and standard operating procedures for clandestine laboratory investigations. Additionally, the role entails supporting the logistics for training sessions, workshops, and meetings, facilitating working groups with security and justice institutions, and serving as a liaison with service providers and external consultants. Monitoring, reporting, and compliance are key, involving the development of monitoring tools, collection and archiving of documentation, assisting in report drafting, and ensuring adherence to project, UNODC, and donor policies.
Work Experience
Required: Relevant experience supporting criminal investigations, criminal intelligence, evidence management, or chain of custody. Experience in capacity-building activities for security and/or justice institutions. Experience in implementing actions related to the criminal investigation of organized crime or illicit drug production. Proficiency in productivity and collaboration tools (MS Office, G-Suite). Desirable: Knowledge of criminal investigation, criminal intelligence, evidence handling, and chain of custody procedures. Experience in multicultural environments or UN system organizations. Experience coordinating activities with multiple counterparts.
