Job Purpose
The Project Support Associate (Synthetic Drugs) supports the effective implementation of the ALERT (MEXAL6) project within UNODC Mexico's Country Office. Working under the Project Coordinator, this role assists in planning, coordinating, and executing project activities. The associate collaborates closely with counterparts to ensure timely delivery of outputs and adherence to project frameworks and UNODC standards. This position is crucial for advancing the project's objectives related to synthetic drugs, clandestine labs, controlled substances, and precursor chemical diversion, contributing to enhanced criminal investigations and intelligence efforts.
Responsibilities
The role involves supporting senior technical staff and the Project Coordinator in engaging with project counterparts, identifying needs, and facilitating capacity building related to synthetic drugs, clandestine labs, controlled substances, and precursor chemical diversion. This includes assisting in documentary analysis, developing evidence-based deliverables, and supporting the design and validation of materials and standard operating procedures for evidence preservation and criminal investigation. The associate will also aid in the logistics and execution of training sessions, workshops, and meetings, and facilitate working groups with relevant institutions. Furthermore, the role requires supporting monitoring tools, compiling project documentation, assisting in report drafting, and ensuring compliance with project, UNODC, and donor requirements.
Work Experience
Required: Relevant experience supporting activities related to synthetic drugs, controlled substances, drug control, or similar fields. Experience in capacity building or training for security, justice, forensic, or regulatory institutions. Experience in implementing actions related to criminal investigations of organized crime or illicit drug production. Proficiency in productivity and collaboration tools. Desirable: Knowledge of illicit synthetic drug production, clandestine labs, controlled substances, precursors, or drug control frameworks. Experience in information gathering and analysis. Experience working with UN system organizations.
