Job Purpose
The Quality Engineering Technician - Associate will provide crucial technical expertise and support for establishing and operationalizing Timor-Leste's air quality monitoring system. This involves ensuring the functionality, reliability, and maintenance of monitoring infrastructure, including site selection, sensor deployment, and data integration. The role also encompasses capacity building for local authorities and stakeholders, fostering collaboration to enhance climate data collection and analysis. Ultimately, the position contributes to strengthening early warning systems and improving public health resilience through better air quality management.
Responsibilities
Site selection and preparation for sensor deployment, including field assessments and coordination with local authorities for permissions. Technical implementation and field support for the hybrid air quality monitoring infrastructure, involving diagnostics, troubleshooting, and calibration of sensors. Integration of sensor data into management systems and coordination with national climate-health data systems. Contribution to capacity building through training and mentoring local staff on air quality monitoring, data management, and quality assurance. Acting as a local technical focal point, liaising with project management and stakeholders, and assisting in report preparation and community engagement.
Work Experience
Required experience includes troubleshooting air quality sensors and monitoring equipment, conducting site assessments, and proficiency with collaboration tools. Desired experience includes technical knowledge of air quality monitoring principles, station location selection, training development, and working in multicultural or UN environments.
