The Andean Multi-Country Office (ANMCO), based in Peru, also oversees operations in Ecuador and Colombia, primarily providing technical assistance to local governments to improve public service delivery and infrastructure.

Job Purpose

The Fire Protection Engineer will provide specialized technical support, acting as the technical authority on fire safety. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with applicable regulations for power generation plants. The engineer will focus on the project for the replacement of the fire protection system (SCI) in associated generation plants, contributing to the modernization and upgrading of critical hydroelectric power plant infrastructure.

Responsibilities

The role involves supporting the preparation and validation of procurement processes by developing and reviewing technical specifications and terms of reference. This includes evaluating fire risks for generators and transformers, ensuring compliance with NFPA 850 standards, and assessing fire suppression agents and detection systems. The engineer will also validate procurement budgets, define bidder qualifications, and provide technical input during tender evaluations. Post-award, responsibilities include supervising the quality of contracted engineering work, monitoring contract progress, and resolving design-related queries for fire protection systems.

Work Experience

Required: 2-4 years of experience in fire protection systems, including design and installation of gaseous agent suppression systems (e.g., CO2, Novec 1230). Desired: Experience in hydroelectric engineering projects, international fire safety standards (NFPA, FM Global), and fire protection systems for generators and transformers in power plants.
