Senior Network Engineer
Organizational Context
UNOPS, through its East Asia and Pacific Multi-Country Office (EAPMCO), supports WHO's Information and Digital Technology (IDT) department. IDT manages WHO's digital ecosystem, aiming for agility, operational efficiency, and alignment with global health objectives. This role operates under WHO's supervision, contributing to secure and effective IT operations across a diverse global network infrastructure.
Job Purpose
The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for innovating and developing new network policies, techniques, and standards for WHO's global network infrastructure. This role involves creating novel solutions for complex network challenges, providing expert advice on network programs, and driving transformative change. The engineer will lead and direct teams, advocate for new ideas, and ensure the network architecture effectively supports WHO's strategic objectives and global health mandate, enhancing operational efficiency and collaboration through advanced digital solutions.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include developing network strategy, innovation, and architecture, including new policies, techniques, and standards for LAN, WAN, and cloud environments. This involves designing complex network solutions, implementing security measures, and leading research into emerging technologies. The role also encompasses network operations and support, such as monitoring performance, managing capacity, and providing expert-level troubleshooting. Additionally, the Senior Network Engineer will define operational policies, engage with stakeholders, report on KPIs, and present network strategies to senior management, ensuring seamless integration with other IT systems.
Work Experience
Required experience includes Network Architecture, Engineering & Security, with at least 3 years in international organizations' network operations, security, and configuration. Experience with network monitoring tools, advanced telecommunications systems, day-to-day network management, and Level 3 support is essential. IT Project Management experience is also required. Experience with global network infrastructure and cloud networking technologies is desirable.
