Organizational Context
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) works with states and civil society to prevent drugs and crime from threatening security, peace, and development. UNODC's Organized Crime area supports the mandate to prevent and combat various forms of crime through program implementation, enhancing national capacities. The Environmental Prevention and Justice component specifically addresses environmental crime, seeking alliances and developing technical tools to combat issues like deforestation and illegal resource exploitation.
Job Purpose
The Senior Project Assistant will provide technical support for the development, implementation, and documentation of technological components related to the decoupling of the SUNL module. This role is crucial for structuring databases, managing migration services, authentication, queries, and integration with other related systems. The position operates under the supervision of the Environmental Prevention and Justice Component Coordinator, ensuring alignment with OTIC guidelines and institutional needs. The objective is to contribute to the effective functioning of environmental crime-fighting initiatives, particularly those focused on deforestation and illegal activities in prioritized territories.
Responsibilities
The Senior Project Assistant will support the construction and adjustment of the database structure for the SUNL module. Responsibilities include providing technical support for the development and implementation of migration services, as well as supporting the operation and functionality of the decoupled SUNL module. The role involves logistical support for authentication services through the VITAL platform and assisting with the integration of services with the National Forest Traceability System (MFSL and LOFL), CITES, CUPOS, and other related systems. Additionally, the assistant will support query services for control entities and the public, and assist in the creation and updating of technical documentation for the SUNL module, including components, services, integrations, and queries.
Work Experience
Required: Relevant experience in document management, technology support, and database structuring. Desired: Fullstack developer experience in information systems, including REST API design, .Net C# backend, data migration, system updates, ETL, and agile methodologies.
