Organizational Context
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Africa Regional Office oversees over 250 projects across 40 countries, focusing on fragile and conflict-affected settings. The Malawi office, supported by UNOPS, implements diverse partner-funded initiatives aligned with national priorities, including developing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres. This Reports Officer role is situated within the Partnerships Unit of the Communication, Advocacy and Partnerships Section, supporting UNICEF Malawi.
Job Purpose
The Reports Officer's primary purpose is to uphold the organization's reputation for delivering timely and high-quality reports, thereby strengthening donor relations. This involves meticulously managing donor reporting processes and other critical engagement moments. The role is instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and timely submission of project reports, which directly contributes to maintaining positive relationships with donors and supporting the overall objectives of UNICEF Malawi. By ensuring the quality of reporting, the role facilitates effective communication of project progress and impact to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The Reports Officer is responsible for spearheading the development and execution of a comprehensive donor reporting strategy, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions. This includes overseeing the collection, consolidation, and validation of project data, employing data analysis for insights, and ensuring adherence to donor guidelines. The role involves designing and refining monitoring and reporting systems, building staff capacity in reporting practices, and conducting data quality assessments. Additionally, the officer will draft and produce impactful project reports, manage the dissemination of reports, and serve as a key contact for donor reporting inquiries. The position also entails establishing and maintaining reporting trackers, managing documentation in SharePoint, and leading on donor visibility and recognition efforts in collaboration with the Partnerships Specialist.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressive professional experience in donor reporting, partnerships management, or results-based financing is required, preferably with a bachelor's degree. Experience working with international financial institutions or multilateral agencies, drafting high-quality written documents, and strong analytical skills are essential. Proficiency in standard office and data management tools is also beneficial.
