Job Purpose
The Senior Project Manager (Consulting) is responsible for the effective delivery and daily oversight of consulting projects that contribute to partner objectives. This includes strategy development, grant management, service delivery, and technical assistance. The role ensures project deliverables meet agreed tolerances for time, cost, scope, quality, risk, and benefits, acting as the focal point for coordination with donors, partners, and beneficiaries. The incumbent must possess a deep understanding of project planning, implementation, monitoring, and control, while effectively managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring alignment with UNOPS contractual commitments and performance standards.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing project plans, integrating sustainability dimensions, and managing the production of deliverables within defined tolerances. The role involves monitoring project progress, controlling variations, managing changes, and mitigating risks to maximize benefits for partners. This includes ensuring quality compliance, managing external vendor relationships, and maintaining organized project documentation for audits. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for establishing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, preparing regular financial and project reports, and conducting regular reviews of project status against performance criteria. Stakeholder engagement involves developing strategies, fostering strong relationships, and coordinating communication to ensure awareness and acceptance of deliverables. The role also encompasses quality assurance, knowledge management, innovation, and leading and developing the project team, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
Work Experience
Relevant experience includes working in consulting services related to UNOPS' key service lines such as infrastructure, finance, HR, procurement, and project management, or related fields. Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and experience in documenting business requirements and process redesign are mandatory. Experience in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in developing countries, as well as in development or humanitarian contexts, is desirable. Proficiency in relevant IT systems for consulting is also preferred.
