UNOPS' Global Portfolios Office (GPO) supports partners in delivering global impact through project and fund management, hosting, and HR services. The Geneva office manages global programs, including the Water, Environment and Climate Portfolio, and supports various Geneva-based partnerships. This role specifically supports Cities Alliance, a global partnership focused on strengthening cities' role in sustainable development and poverty reduction.
Job Purpose
This role is designed to provide crucial support to the management, technical oversight, and coordination of urban projects within the Tunisia country program. The objective is to ensure that these projects are implemented effectively and in strict adherence to the procedures and guidelines set forth by UNOPS and Cities Alliance. The position will contribute to the successful execution of urban development initiatives, enhancing local governance, strategic urban planning, and the implementation of concrete projects that align with sustainable development goals and poverty reduction strategies.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Senior Officer will provide effective support to the country program and its operational activities. Key responsibilities include project management support, such as drafting reports, proposals, and terms of reference, and coordinating the timely receipt of information from implementing partners. The role involves maintaining up-to-date project information, assessing operational risks, and evaluating progress reports. Additionally, the Senior Officer will manage specific project activities and work packages, coordinate stakeholder meetings, and organize capacity-building workshops. Field supervision includes visiting project sites to verify reported activities, monitoring partner performance against plans and budgets, and participating in quality control visits and assessments.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant experience in project management or project management support is required. This requirement increases to four years of experience if holding a Bachelor's degree instead of a Master's. Experience in planning, stakeholder management, and/or monitoring and reporting is highly desirable. Prior experience with public works projects and capacity building initiatives will be considered an asset.
