The Brussels Partnerships Office (BPO) specifically enhances strategic engagement with key European partners like the EU and its member states, driving collaboration and positioning UNOPS as a trusted delivery partner.
Job Purpose
The Director, Brussels Partnerships Office provides senior leadership, embodying UNOPS values and fostering a high-performing team. This role is crucial for managing and deepening relationships with key partners, particularly in Brussels, to drive partnership development, engagement, and opportunity identification. The Director is accountable for scaling up and speeding up delivery for impact, reinforcing UNOPS' reputation as a leading implementation capacity resource. Reporting to the Director of the Partnerships and Futures Group, the position focuses on growing the portfolio's volume and value, integrating mission-led intent into partnership development, and enhancing partner satisfaction through improved service quality and delivery, ultimately contributing to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Responsibilities
The Director is responsible for strategic alignment and direction, contributing insights from partner relationships to PFG strategy and providing analysis on partner portfolios. They develop and implement key partner strategies, championing UNOPS' value proposition through active networking and understanding partner landscapes. The role involves engaging senior officials, representing UNOPS in external forums, and serving as the primary contact point for key partners. This includes leading senior-level consultations to understand priorities and risks, playing a leading role in opportunity development, and managing global Framework Agreements. Furthermore, the Director leads people management, fostering a culture of trust, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring high standards of conduct and ethical resource use. They also drive knowledge management and innovation by sharing best practices and contributing to continuous improvement in partner engagement.
Work Experience
Requires significant experience in strategic and managerial leadership within international development, business development, operations, or programme management in a large international organization. Experience in multicultural environments, UN system organizations, development or humanitarian contexts, and partnering with the public sector on project development and evaluation is desirable.
