The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Global Shared Service Centre (GSSC) in Bangkok provides efficient, standardized transactional services globally, including payroll, finance, and personnel administration. Job Purpose
The Payroll Assistant is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely administration of payroll services for UNOPS personnel. This role ensures compliance with UN/UNOPS rules and regulations, maintains the integrity and confidentiality of payroll data, and contributes to the overall efficiency of financial and human resource operations. By processing payroll accurately and responding to queries, the incumbent plays a crucial part in maintaining employee trust and supporting the organization's operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities
The Payroll Assistant will process UNOPS payroll accurately and punctually, managing personnel payroll information, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, and deductions. This involves calculating pay, maintaining and updating payroll records, archiving supporting documents, and reconciling payroll accounts. The role requires staying updated on payroll policies and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance. Additionally, the assistant will respond to payroll-related queries and issues, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions. They will also provide payroll reports, coordinate with internal stakeholders for adjustments and reconciliation, and support knowledge sharing through training and participation in practice communities.
Work Experience
Relevant experience in supporting payroll, accounting, HR administration, or general administration is required. Proficiency in collaboration and productivity tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite) and web-based management systems is also necessary. Experience in multicultural environments or UN system organizations, particularly in developing countries or humanitarian contexts, is desirable.
