Organizational Context
The UNOPS Development and Special Initiatives team supports UN partners and Member States in achieving the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals. The New York Portfolios Office (NYPO) specifically assists the UN Secretariat and other New York-based UN organizations in project, infrastructure, and procurement management. This role is within the Sustainable Development Cluster, supporting global peacebuilding, humanitarian, and development operations.
Job Purpose
This role directly impacts the development and performance of the Climate Action Team (CAT), enhancing its visibility and alignment with UN priorities. The Programme Management - Senior Associate provides crucial support to senior leadership, including the ASG and Director of CAT, by managing schedules, coordinating project implementation, and ensuring effective communication. The position is instrumental in facilitating the team's work towards accelerating climate action and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring project activities are aligned with the UN's broader agenda.
Responsibilities
The Programme Management - Senior Associate provides direct support to the ASG, managing their schedule, preparing for meetings, and briefing on requests. The role involves full-cycle programme and project management assistance for Climate Action Team projects, including HR, finance, and tasking flows. Responsibilities include researching, analyzing, and presenting program data, drafting updates for senior leadership, and serving as a focal point for coordination and monitoring of implementation activities. The associate also manages administrative processes such as recruitment, travel, payments, and procurement, establishes databases, and organizes meetings for the team.
Work Experience
Relevant experience includes work in programme or project administration, technical cooperation, or a related field. Specific experience in supporting senior leadership, managing project lifecycles, and handling administrative processes within a UN or international organization context is beneficial.
