Job Purpose
The Civil Engineer (Budget Specialist) is responsible for reviewing design and construction activities to ensure projects remain within budget and adhere to the highest quality standards. This role involves incorporating best practices in technical design and construction management throughout the project lifecycle, with strict compliance to Health, Safety, Social, and Environmental (HSSE) standards, and Protection against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH) requirements. The incumbent will leverage strong technical expertise and proactive resource management to ensure integrity, transparency, and effective stakeholder coordination in all civil engineering endeavors, contributing to the successful delivery of UNOPS projects.
Responsibilities
Provide technical advisory services for project and construction contracts, including the analysis of engineering project budgets and suggesting necessary adjustments. Offer technical support to project recipients, assisting with budgeting and planning for engineering projects. Review all project-related documents and licensing applications. Propose solutions for the execution of works, specifically for food storage units. Ensure project execution adheres to all relevant standards, regulations, and plans, including safety, health, environmental, social, and quality aspects. Participate in project planning, monitoring, and evaluation meetings as required.
Work Experience
Required experience includes working in budget engineering, planning engineering, or related fields. Desirable experience includes working in multicultural environments, with United Nations system organizations in developing countries, or in development or humanitarian contexts.
