Job Purpose
The Lead Civil Engineer will be responsible for the technical design, planning, and optimization of structures and infrastructure projects. This includes developing structural plans, designing new constructions based on architectural inputs, and ensuring technical specifications and material choices meet project requirements. The role involves close coordination with architects, other engineers, and project teams to ensure seamless integration of structural elements. Additionally, the engineer will prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including calculation notes and construction method specifications, and ensure all designs comply with relevant standards and regulations, contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
The Lead Civil Engineer is expected to deliver high-quality project results, enhancing UNOPS' visibility as a reliable project management service provider. Key responsibilities include producing a complete dossier of all structural plans, calculation notes, and specifications in soft copy. These plans will be utilized for other architectural and technical components of the project. The engineer must adhere strictly to the mission's timeline and maintain confidentiality regarding all project documents and plans provided. Successful execution of these duties ensures project realization and strengthens UNOPS' reputation for excellence in project delivery, even in challenging environments.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience in structural building design is required. Experience with healthcare facilities is desirable, as is prior work experience within the United Nations system, which would be considered an asset.
