The Partnerships and Liaison Group (PLG) is a global entity within UNOPS focused on strategic partnership development. It collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to advance UNOPS' Strategic Plan. The Tokyo Liaison Office, part of PLG, manages relationships with key Japanese partners and supports UNOPS operational teams with Japan-funded projects.
Job Purpose
The Partnerships Senior Officer - Liaison role supports UNOPS' objective to strengthen ties with partners, specifically focusing on developing strategic partnerships with organizations based in Japan. This involves engaging with Japanese government ministries, JICA, and the private sector. The position also plays a crucial role in assisting UNOPS operational teams in effectively managing and administering projects funded by Japanese donors, ensuring smooth implementation and adherence to regulations.
Responsibilities
The role encompasses several key areas: Project Support involves liaising with the Japanese government and UNOPS offices for timely project signing, fund transactions, and managing project documentation. It includes supporting country offices with communication, reporting, and amendments for Japan-funded projects, and reviewing documents for submission. Business Development Support includes reviewing concept notes and proposals for Japanese funding and providing country-specific analysis. Coordination Support involves preparing for and reporting on meetings for UNOPS leadership and disseminating knowledge management materials. Office Administration Support covers reviewing accounting transactions, processing payments, managing bank accounts, and coordinating vendor communications and procurement processes.
Work Experience
Required experience includes project or operations management, with a focus on monitoring and reporting. Demonstrated research and analysis skills for partner/business development in an international context are essential, along with proficiency in MS Office, spreadsheets, and databases. Field experience or experience in developing countries is desirable.
