Organizational Context

Job Purpose

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in cold chain management within an international organization, contributing to public health improvements in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The intern will support the Project Manager and Expert Cold Chain Logistician in coordinating maintenance operations and monitoring the proper functioning of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) cold chain equipment across the country. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficacy of vaccine distribution and supporting the national health system's vaccination goals.

Responsibilities

The intern will provide support for the curative and preventive maintenance of cold rooms, generators, solar systems, and solar refrigerators. This includes assisting in inspecting maintenance work performed by engineers, helping with the exhaustive inventory of spare parts, and preparing shipments to execution sites. The role also involves quantifying spare parts needs for cold chain equipment and participating in the daily and weekly monitoring of equipment functionality nationwide. Additionally, the intern will assist in preparing project reports and technical documents, taking meeting minutes, and performing other project implementation tasks as assigned by the project management team.

Work Experience

While no prior professional experience is strictly required, practical experience in industrial refrigeration, maintenance, and repair of cold chain equipment and solar electrical installations is desirable. Experience in the vaccine cold chain field is also considered an asset.
