Job Purpose
The Architectural Engineering Technician - Assistant provides crucial technical support for the preparation of engineering and architectural plans, models, and documentation using CAD and BIM software. This role is integral to the successful implementation of infrastructure projects in Panama. The technician collaborates closely with engineers and project managers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of design products. Additionally, the position involves generating field visit reports, conducting measurements, and performing other related tasks as required, contributing to the overall project lifecycle and quality assurance.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include CAD/BIM design and drawing, interpreting engineering and architectural plans, topographic surveys, and sketches to create AutoCAD files. This involves demonstrating proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D/3D technical drawing, layer management, dynamic blocks, external references, and layout configuration. The role also requires using Autodesk Civil 3D for surface generation, alignments, profiles, and earthwork calculations, and applying BIM methodologies with Autodesk Revit for architectural or structural modeling. Field support involves generating visit reports, taking measurements, and accompanying the Resident Engineer on inspection visits. Data management includes delivering generated information in original formats and adhering to UNOPS usage authorization policies.
Work Experience
A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in AutoCAD drafting is required, along with experience in AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D. Desirable experience includes working on road or vertical infrastructure projects, BIM modeling with Autodesk Revit, and prior experience with international organizations or the United Nations.
