The New York Portfolios Office (NYPO) specifically manages UNOPS' New York-based portfolios, fostering collaboration and leveraging expertise for global project and programme management, procurement, HR, and financial services.
Job Purpose
The Supply Chain Management Specialist is responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective management of the UNMAS fleet and assets in South Sudan, adhering to UNOPS rules and regulations. This involves developing and implementing comprehensive maintenance plans, overseeing workshop operations, managing asset recording and verification processes, and providing essential technical advice to senior management to ensure optimal fleet performance and asset integrity.
Responsibilities
Manage and optimize the UNMAS fleet for maximum availability and minimum downtime, developing and implementing preventive maintenance plans and annual servicing schedules. Oversee workshop administration, labor allocation, and job flow, ensuring adherence to Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) standards. Maintain accurate electronic records for fleet, assets, and expendables, including inventory management of spare parts and coordination with procurement. Conduct regular asset verification, manage asset disposal processes, and provide technical advice on fleet and asset acquisition, repair, and replacement strategies. Coordinate transport planning, movement, and logistics for personnel, equipment, and supplies, liaising with UNMISS logbase and managing customs clearance. Additionally, lead and develop a team, fostering learning and ensuring compliance with policies, while contributing to knowledge sharing on fleet, logistics, and asset management best practices.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in fleet management, asset management, logistics, or supply chain is required. Experience in developing and implementing maintenance plans, workshop procedures, and supervising a team is essential. Experience within a UN or international organization and with ERP systems is desirable.
