Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide practical experience for a civil engineering student within the UNOPS "Peacebuilding Fund" (PCP) program, funded by KfW. The intern will gain exposure to construction site methodologies, standards, and safety procedures. Key objectives include actively participating in the planning, execution, and monitoring of civil engineering works, developing skills in interpreting technical documents like plans and specifications, and enhancing professional communication and teamwork abilities. The role offers a valuable opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world project setting and contribute to the successful implementation of peacebuilding infrastructure and local development activities.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of an Engineer or Project Manager, the Civil Engineer Intern will be responsible for: Site Supervision and Quality Control: Assisting the supervision team with daily site activities, verifying work conformity against plans and technical specifications, participating in material testing (concrete, soil), and contributing to daily and weekly progress reports. Planning and Documentation: Aiding in the creation of diagrams, technical drawings, and detailed plans using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D), updating project documents such as quantity surveys and execution plans, and assisting in the analysis and optimization of construction methods. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Ensuring adherence to site hygiene and safety regulations, and promptly reporting any non-compliance or potential risks to the supervisor.
