The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is seeking a Monitoring and Evaluation Analyst for its Humanitarian Financing Units in Nigeria. This role, open to Nigerian nationals only, is situated within the Crisis Response Division. The M&E Analyst is crucial for enhancing the accountability, transparency, and effectiveness of the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF).
Job Purpose
The Monitoring and Evaluation Analyst plays a critical role in strengthening the accountability, transparency, and effectiveness of the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF). By ensuring quality monitoring, evidence-based reporting, and robust partner capacity assessments, this position directly informs NHF decision-making. The ultimate goal is to contribute to improved humanitarian outcomes for conflict-affected populations in northeast Nigeria. The role supports the overall mission of OCHA to mobilize and coordinate effective humanitarian action and advocate for the rights of those in need.
Responsibilities
The Monitoring and Evaluation Analyst is responsible for programmatic monitoring and results reporting of NHF-funded projects, including developing and updating monitoring plans, conducting regular monitoring (including remote), and preparing reports with actionable recommendations. The role involves data management, analysis, and the production of analytical and knowledge management products. Support is provided for programmatic management, including allocation processes, project reviews, and quality assurance. Additionally, the analyst will support partner capacity strengthening initiatives, conduct internal capacity assessments, and assist in partnerships management, including NGO eligibility processes and stakeholder engagement.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in emergency humanitarian programming, crisis/emergency relief management, or related areas, preferably with a UN organization or NGO, is required. Experience within the UN Common system or a comparable international organization in a humanitarian context is also necessary. Experience in monitoring and reporting on donor-funded projects, data management, analysis, and report writing is desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in humanitarian programming, monitoring and evaluation principles, and results-based management. Ability to conduct independent data collection, analysis, and reporting. Strong communication skills for preparing reports and presenting findings to diverse audiences. Planning and organizing skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Accountability and teamwork are essential.
