Job Purpose
The Driver (Chauffeur) will provide reliable and secure transportation services for OCHA personnel, visitors, and consultants within Chad. This role is essential for facilitating official missions, delivering critical documents and supplies, and supporting the overall operational effectiveness of the OCHA office in Farchana. The position contributes to the efficient functioning of humanitarian aid delivery by ensuring safe and timely movement of staff and resources in a challenging operational area.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include operating assigned service vehicles for authorized transport of personnel and goods, adhering strictly to safety regulations and local traffic laws. The Driver will maintain daily vehicle logs, track mileage and fuel consumption, and ensure the vehicle is kept clean and in good working order. This involves performing daily checks on oil, water, brakes, and tires, and conducting minor repairs. The role also encompasses ensuring all vehicle documents are up-to-date, assisting with vehicle maintenance scheduling, and promptly reporting any accidents to supervisors and relevant authorities. Additionally, the Driver will support administrative tasks such as certifying garage invoices and assisting with the packaging of cargo for sub-office distribution.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant work experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required. Experience in basic computer use and relevant office software (MS Word, Excel) is also needed. Familiarity with online management systems and electronic scheduling is beneficial.
