Job Purpose
The Associate Information Management Officer/Data Analyst, reporting to the Information Management Officer, is primarily responsible for producing data-driven analysis and insights to support decision-making processes. This role involves compiling, cleaning, and harmonizing data from multiple sources, developing and implementing data collection systems, and supporting analytical strategies to enhance statistical efficiency and data quality. The position also contributes to the maintenance of regional humanitarian databases, supports data integration processes, and acts as a content editor for OCHA platforms, ensuring the effective flow and utilization of information within the organization.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include managing and analyzing data by compiling, cleaning, and harmonizing datasets from various sources for analysis. This involves developing and implementing data collection systems and analytical strategies to improve statistical efficiency and data quality. The role also entails maintaining regional humanitarian databases, supporting data integration, and serving as a content editor for OCHA platforms. Additionally, the position acts as a focal point for humanitarian financing, creating funding models, and supports the Joint Inter-Sectoral Analysis Framework (JIAF) for country teams. Data visualization and mapping involve creating infographics and visualizations for reports and presentations, utilizing new visualization technologies like interactive dashboards and AI platforms, and producing geospatial outputs such as maps and web maps. The role also includes developing and documenting methodologies and QA/QC procedures for geospatial data. Furthermore, responsibilities extend to information management coordination, knowledge management, and training, providing remote and in-person support to country and regional offices, and supporting capacity-building initiatives in information management and emerging technologies.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience (with a Master's) or 4 years (with a Bachelor's) in applied analytics, business intelligence, statistics, project management, or stakeholder management is required. Experience using data to support decision-making, strategy development, and implementation is essential. Proficiency with self-service analytics and data visualization tools (e.g., MS Power BI, Qlik, Tableau) or business intelligence tools (e.g., SAP Business Objects) is also required. Experience with version control tools like Git and programming languages (SQL, Python, R) is desirable.
