Organizational Context
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) aims to mobilize and coordinate effective humanitarian action. Job Purpose
The Driver is responsible for providing reliable and secure driving services for the transportation of authorized personnel, mail, documents, and other items. This role ensures the safe operation and day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles, including minor repairs and regular checks. The incumbent will also assist with airport pick-ups and drop-offs for official personnel and visitors, manage vehicle logs, and ensure all necessary vehicle documents and supplies are readily available. The position contributes to the smooth functioning of OCHA's operations by ensuring timely and safe movement of people and goods, thereby supporting the overall humanitarian mission.
Responsibilities
Provide reliable and secure driving services for authorized personnel, mail, and documents. Ensure the safe operation and transport of passengers and goods. Conduct daily checks and maintenance of assigned vehicles, including minor repairs, oil changes, tire pressure, and washing. Arrange for major repairs as needed. Maintain accurate daily vehicle logs and assist in preparing maintenance plans and reports to ensure cost-efficiency. Ensure all required vehicle documents, such as insurance and registration, are up-to-date and readily available. Maintain an inventory of necessary supplies, including a first aid kit and spare parts. Respond appropriately and immediately to any incidents or accidents involving the vehicle, following all rules and regulations.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of work experience as a driver is required. Experience driving in mountainous and swampy conditions is essential. A safe driving record and knowledge of driving rules and regulations are desired. Experience driving for an international organization or NGO is preferred.
