Organizational Context

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is a specialized agency promoting industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. UNIDO's mission, aligned with the 2030 Agenda and SDG-9, focuses on promoting and accelerating inclusive and sustainable industrial development in Member States. The Directorate of Strategic Planning, Programming and Policy (SPP) oversees industrial policy research, statistics, SDG9 reporting, and Knowledge Management (KM). The Division of Knowledge Management (SPP/KMG) is responsible for developing and operationalizing UNIDO's KM framework, enhancing the generation, use, and sharing of knowledge to achieve development impact.

Job Purpose

To support the Division of Knowledge Management (SPP/KMG) in developing and implementing knowledge management (KM) and knowledge sharing (KS) initiatives, fostering a culture of collaboration and organizational learning across UNIDO.

Responsibilities

Support the development and implementation of KM/KS advocacy and outreach plans. Identify and source relevant learning materials on KM/KS. Assist in identifying target audiences and communication strategies for knowledge exchange. Support the establishment and piloting of Communities of Practice (CoPs). Organize and promote knowledge-sharing events, including webinars and seminars. Assist in developing communication materials, presentations, and success stories. Maintain KM/KS-related digital platforms (SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Viva Engage). Assist in expertise mapping initiatives, including data collection and development of expert-finder tools. Prepare, administer, and analyze surveys related to KM/KS initiatives.

Work Experience

Experience in establishing and supporting Communities of Practice, knowledge networks, or organizational learning initiatives. Exposure to developing outreach, advocacy, and engagement activities. Experience with collaboration platforms like SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Viva Engage. Practical experience in expertise mapping, survey design, and analysis. Experience working in a multicultural environment is desirable.

Skills

Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications (Teams, SharePoint). Interest in knowledge management, knowledge sharing, and organizational learning. Good analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
