The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. UNIDO's mission is to promote and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development in Member States, aligning with the 2030 Agenda and SDG-9. The Directorate of Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development (TCS) oversees strategies and interventions related to environment, energy, MSMEs, and digitalization. The Division of Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence (TCS/DAI) within TCS promotes digital transformation and AI to enhance industry competitiveness in Member States, helping them benefit from Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies and ensuring a smooth transition towards smart industrial systems.
Job Purpose
To support the Division of Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence (TCS/DAI) in its work on promoting digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence, including research, publication support, event organization, and data collection for AI readiness assessments.
Responsibilities
Support the preparation of a joint UNIDO-IBM-Oxford Insights publication on AI & Digital for Industry Navigator (AIDIN). Provide organizational support for UNIDO's engagements at UNGA81. Assist in piloting the AIDIN platform by collecting and structuring country-level data. Prepare briefing inputs and summaries on AI and digital economy topics. Support activities of AIM Global, including meeting documentation and knowledge exchange products. Provide general organizational and administrative support for meetings, events, and webinars. Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Work Experience
Not specified, but a demonstrated interest in AI, digital transformation, data analysis, or digital economy topics through coursework, research, internships, or extracurricular activities is required.
Skills
Proficiency in standard office software (MS Office) is required. Familiarity with data analysis, data visualization, or basic programming (e.g., Python or R) is desirable. Demonstrated interest in AI governance, responsible AI, or digital transformation policy, particularly in developing countries, is desirable.
