Senior SAP BW/BI Consultant
Organizational Context
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability, aligning with the 2030 Agenda and SDGs. UNIDO's mandate is recognized in SDG-9. The Directorate of Corporate Services and Operations (COR) manages UNIDO's resources, and the Digitalization, Innovation, and TC Optimization Services (COR/DIT) unit focuses on digital solutions and IT services. This position is within COR/DIT/DIG, responsible for implementing IT strategies, setting standards, and managing corporate IT services.
Job Purpose
To strengthen the operational resilience and continuity of UNIDO’s corporate reporting environment by providing specialized technical capacity for the maintenance, operation, and further development of the SAP Business Warehouse (BW) and Business Intelligence (BI) landscape. This includes resolving technical issues, implementing reporting enhancements, maintaining documentation, and knowledge transfer within existing SAP architecture and governance.
Responsibilities
Provide senior-level technical expertise for SAP BW and BI environment operation, maintenance, and development. Analyze reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Design, develop, and enhance SAP BW 7.5 data models and data flows. Administer, support, and troubleshoot the SAP BW environment, including performance optimization and incident resolution. Maintain the SAP BW authorization concept. Develop and maintain reporting solutions in SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.3 (Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, Lumira). Support SAP BW Integrated Planning and SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office. Investigate and perform root-cause analysis for data quality, reporting, and performance issues. Produce and maintain technical documentation. Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer. Contribute to the modernization of the analytical landscape.
Work Experience
Minimum of five years of professional hands-on experience in SAP Business Warehouse and Business Intelligence development, administration, and technical implementation. Proven experience with SAP BW 7.x (data modeling, extraction, transformations, process chains, BEx queries, production support). Experience in SAP BW environment administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. Experience with SAP BW authorization concepts. Experience with SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.x (Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports). Experience with SAP Lumira. Experience with SAP BW Integrated Planning. Experience with SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office. Experience troubleshooting SAP BW/BI solutions across layers. Desirable: ABAP development/debugging, SAP BW/4HANA, SAP HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud, Microsoft Power BI, SAP ERP source systems, modernization/migration projects.
