Organizational Context

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. Its mission is to promote and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development in Member States, aligning with the 2030 Agenda and SDG-9. UNIDO's work encompasses technical cooperation, research, policy advisory, normative functions, and partnership building. The Division of Fair Production, Sustainability Standards and Trade (IET/PST) focuses on fair and responsible local industrial production and trade, including sustainability standards and due diligence legislation. The Sustainable Investments and Responsible Business Unit (IET/PST/SIB) fosters responsible business conduct and investments in sustainable value chains, supporting Member States in enhancing their frameworks and compliance with international standards.

Job Purpose

To provide administrative, research, and coordination support to the Africa Trade Competitiveness and Market Access (ATCMA) Programme, specifically contributing to the voluntary sustainability standards component in the ECOWAS region, and to gain practical experience in sustainable investment and responsible business conduct.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative and research support for the ATCMA Programme, including gathering and analyzing project information, assisting with reporting, supporting meetings and workshops, maintaining records and databases, and conducting desk research on sustainability and corporate responsibility. Assist with outreach and communication activities. Support other emerging projects related to sustainable investment and responsible business conduct. Prepare an end-of-internship report.

Work Experience

Prior experience in sustainability standards, corporate responsibility, or EU trade and environmental policy is highly desirable.
