This position is within the Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women Division, responsible for implementing UNIDO's Gender Policy and Strategy.
Job Purpose
To accelerate and improve results on gender equality and the empowerment of women within selected UNIDO programmes and projects by enhancing the capability of project management teams, stakeholders, and beneficiaries to effectively mainstream gender perspectives.
Responsibilities
Act as the main focal point for all gender-related activities of the project. Conduct in-depth reviews and assessments of project design and implementation with a gender lens. Collect sex-disaggregated baseline data. Assess gender awareness and sensitivity of project beneficiaries and stakeholders. Conduct gender sensitization training for project staff. Develop or update a Gender Action Plan. Assist in recruitment to ensure gender equality. Monitor implementation of gender activities and collect sex-disaggregate data. Identify and mitigate unanticipated risks and negative gender impacts. Engage and support relevant government agencies, NGOs, and women's associations to enhance gender results.
Work Experience
Minimum of five years of professional experience in gender equality and gender mainstreaming. Experience with gender analysis tools and methodologies, gender planning, and mainstreaming gender in projects/programmes. Thorough understanding of the gender context in the country or region, and experience working with government institutions and NGOs supporting gender and development work. Formal training in gender analysis and planning is desirable.
