Organizational Context

The organization's strategic document, the Medium-Term Programme Framework (MTPF), guides its efforts in areas such as renewable energy, climate action, food security, and supply chains, with cross-cutting priorities including policy advice, skills development, digitalization, gender equality, and private sector investment. UNIDO operates through technical cooperation, research, normative functions, and partnerships, with its Directorate of Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development (TCS) overseeing strategies for sustainable industrial development, including circular economy and green industry initiatives.

Job Purpose

To coordinate the implementation of the "Climate and Biodiversity Action through Circular Economy Solutions (CB-ACES)" project in Brazil, aiming to reduce negative impacts on climate and biodiversity by transforming sectors and value chains towards a socially just circular economy. The role involves managing project activities, liaising with stakeholders, overseeing local project teams, and ensuring alignment with project objectives and donor requirements.

Responsibilities

Coordinate project activities in Brazil, including work plan development, budget management, and quality control. Liaise with government counterparts and stakeholders, providing regular updates and reports. Manage the local project team and coordinate national experts and consultants. Oversee procurement processes and ensure compliance with UNIDO rules. Monitor and evaluate project progress, preparing regular and final reports. Facilitate communication and knowledge dissemination of project outcomes. Maintain networks and partnerships with national institutions, the private sector, and UN project partners.

Work Experience

Minimum of five years of professional experience in coordinating national development/technical cooperation programmes/projects. Experience in assessing country needs and problems. Project management experience in circular economy or related fields. Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with government institutions, private sector, and civil society. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Desirable experience includes work with other development agencies, donor communities, private sector, knowledge of results-based monitoring and evaluation, gender-responsive approaches, and ERP systems.
